FAQ
Why should I incorporate guided surgery into my clinical practice?
Because using SGT guides is not guesswork, it's simpler, faster and more accurate.
Who will work on my surgical planning?
Our team consists of dental specialists and experienced dental technicians. All of them have been working on planning implants and CAD technology for over 15 years.
How long does it take to deliver the surgical planning?
For simple 1-3 surgical sites, the surgical plan is sent by email within 48 hours. After approval, we take 5 days to print the guide.
What are the required scans?
A CBCT scan and an intraoral scan (Using Trios, iTero, Primescan, etc) or plaster models meet the minimum requirement. An order form must be submitted via the ‘Submit Case’ field on www.sgtguides.com and files can be uploaded from there.
What are the steps for a DUAL SCANNING TECHNIQUE?
Please follow the steps here to perform the dual scanning technique.
How do I get started with SGT today?
Click on the SEND US A CASE button on the homepage of the website.
Fill out the order form and upload your patient’s data (DICOM/STL files/Pictures).
What kind of DICOM files do you need?
We accept DICOM files from any CT manufacturer´s machine. Full multi-frame DICOMs must be compressed (zipped) into a single folder.
How do I zip (compress) a folder?
Locate the folder you want to zip.
Press or hold (or right-click) the folder, select ( or point to) Send To, and then select the compress (Zip) folder. A new zipped folder with the same name is created in the same location.
What type of digital impression scanners do you use?
We work with all digital impression scanners. Most importantly, every digital impression file must be sent in STL format.
What is the difference between IOS and PVS models?
Intraoral scanner (IOS) is when a doctor uses a digital scanner to scan the patient’s mouth and sends the impression digitally.
Polyvinyl Siloxane (PVS) is the material used for an impression. Doctors can send a physical impression to us and we can create a digital file to work with.
I want to minimize the impact of radiation on my patient. What is the minimum field of view that you need for a single implant guide?
It is recommended to provide us with the biggest field of view possible. We need to have the information from the opposite side of the mouth from the surgery site to be able to properly merge the CBCT files with the STL files. If we only have a small field of view for the dicom files, then the success rate of merging the two files together accurately is compromised and can result in the implant being off slightly from the planning report. Furthermore, by not providing enough information on the first scan, we risk having to rescan the patient and therefore creating more exposure to radiation.
What is your turnaround time for surgical guides?
After the doctor's approval, the guide will be printed and delivered within 5 business days.
Do you offer bone-supported guides?
We do offer bone-supported guides.
Do you offer pilot drill guides?
We do offer pilot drill guides.
Can I get an immediate provisional prosthesis for a guided full-arch case?
An immediate provisional can be made by Styledent, and would require a physical impression be sent into the lab before implant surgery.
What implant company is supported?
We work with all implant companies.
